And here we go - don't give me a hard time because I probably won't remember writing any of this anyway.
Apparently, I've had only one reader in the past few weeks - so thanks bro. But I know Rome wasn't built in a day, and I'm not fucking building Rome here - all I want is to have my opinions critiqued and new music introduced. Since I know who you are, I can call you a dick, but I won't go down that road stoch. Still, I sent this out to hundreds of people, and nothing.

My only request thus far is to listen to Fleet Foxes - and I've done so. Not really confident I am about this one this early. I really need to soak in an album, but I'm not sure this one is for me. At first listen, it really reminds me of MMJ's 'It Still Moves', but maybe I'm a little hesitant because of the booze in my system. It's that alt country feel (which I like) and that upbeat mood than many of their other older albums had, but it sounds like MMJ, Drive by Truckers (maybe that's a stretch), or even Margot. Ugh, that's the problem, I'm comparing them to other bands way too much. I don't feel like there's too much new inspirational stuff going on here. Bry - this sounds like what we 'try' to play in my basement, but no offense, we suck. This may be one of those bands I through Jolly Ranchers at - or pass out as I'm trying to make my way to the bathroom.
Again, I enjoy the songwriting, but they're just too much like other bands I dig. I'd like to see them live, and I think they're coming to Denver in July - So, I'm down with that. Who else is in?
So, given that I haven't seen how this translates live, I'll be very interested and willing. You know I'm always up for a show.

On another front, I'd like to get something that's a little heavier. I'm in desperate need for a new QOTSA or SOAD album, so give me something heavy. You know, not anything with 'death' voices, but something with grit, vocals, and a good bassist. Come on, there's got to be something out there.
love,

you gave me three days...
Yep, no love - Can't believe I'm that bad of a informationalist - does everyone hate my taste?
Fuck ya - If I should just stop now, let me know. Otherwise, I'm going to keep blabbing to you.
And I told you about my right Shift key? Fuck'n bitch of a key board - it sticks. (You don't know how many times I'm fixing my grammar?)
Fine - here's what I think. If I should be listening to some else, please key me in - otherwise - fuck yourself. This is what I'm hearing...
Wilco (the album) - for some reason I have always loved Tweedy's songs. I've seen him live multiple times, and I just can't get enough of his thoughts, pains, and a genuine love of writing. I've been at shows where he stops, and tells the crown to shut the fuck up. And, I've been at shows where the band just plays as loud as they can and enjoy every damn minute of it.
Rating: 3 of 5 - I just don't get into a Wilco album that fast. There's no way, though, that this beats earlier albums like Being There, Sky Blue Sky, and especially Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I like it, especially songs like Bull Black Nova and Country Disappeared - nice. If they could only end albums like Isaac Brock (sorry if that pissed anyone off), but I think they need more big finishes. Exactly like Yankee Hotel, or even A.M.
Sparklehourse/Dangermouse - Dark Night of the Soul - This had all the hype and little less punch. Yes, we had the Dangermouse epic with EMI, but fuck that - we all still have the record. It's well done, ignoring the ending (why am I so critially of endings?). I would defietely recommend this if you can find it.

Rating: 4 of 5 - I'm raiting it up there right with the Grey Album, but Dangermouse's production of the Black Key's 'Attack and Release' is just as good - check it out if you dig my blues.
Sooooo, I thought I would include a third - since three seems to a theme here. But what? What's new? There's so many I can include, or try to label, but this is it - only three?
Screw off - this is all I have (thanks again again @cnklink:)
Margot and the Nuclear So & So's - Not Animal. This is probably the best album I've heard in several years. I always loved how Isaac Bruce cussed and met his demon in those albums - I feel the same here - just check it out and let me know if I'm nuts.

Over 3 years later...
Yes, I stumbled upon this drunken blog I posted over three years ago. Now, I'm 'encouraged' to continue it. It's interesting what I wrote back in 2006, but a lot of my key musical tastes are still intact. Of course, I still have my obsessive compulsive musical disorder, so there's so much new stuff to list, I don't even know where to start.
Let's begin with the obsession to find new bands that include "black" in the name. What the fuck is wrong with me? It's not on purpose, I promise, but there for a while, everyone had this in the name - the Black Lips, The Black Keys, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Black Angels. And I even pulled out some old Black Sabbath to smooth things over. So, I've learned that "Black" hasn't failed me yet - yet.
Some new stuff I've found recently are directly related to friends' suggestions - let's review:
Dark Night of the Soul (Dangermouse/Sparklehoure) - check it out - can't even describe it - wonderful album.
Bon Iver - I've heard better, but for some reason I find them somewhat entertaining. Don't got out of your way, but don't ignore either.
Eagles of Death Metal - this is a band I've been following quite some time and have seen them in Denver on different occasions. QOTSA lead Josh Homme was drumming with them, and is still a big supporter - check 'em out - you won't be disappointed.
The Knew - local friends and a great band to catch live. The first time I saw them, they were a two piece, but now I think they're supporting four members (Pat, correct me if I'm wrong). Great energy and talented all around - catch them in Denver or on their west coast swing!
Margot and the Nuclear So & So's - love 'em - great song writing with decent musicians - can't wait to catch them live.
That's it for now - I'll write some album reviews soon - hopefully not three years later. Keep me posted on anything you think I would like!!!
